This is a clarion call for the Church of Jesus Christ to be the light of the world that it is supposed to be.
The Church needs to suit up, step up to the plate, and come out swinging against the moral decay in society.
Unfortunately, it has been shying away from this responsibility because it, too, for the most part, is caught up in the pursuit of the things of this world.
But all that this world has to offer is a mirage to a man thirsty from sin – it looks alluring and beckons us closer but then we find out all of it is empty, fleeting, and brings no real joy.
We all know that sin tastes good when it is going down, but when the putrefied matter hits the fan it tends to burn like crazy.
So, we as the Church need to be honest with ourselves first and then with the world to warn against the pride of life, lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, sex before marriage, sex with others while within a marriage, gossiping, stealing, lying, homosexuality, greed, and tithing.
The world misjudges the calling of the Church by taking a snippet of scripture, “Judge not, lest ye be judged” to mean “You can’t judge me!”.
This is folly, a gross misinterpretation. What Christ was actually saying to the Church was not to judge a sin if we are guilty of the same sin we are judging. He said to repent first of our sin, and then judge sin with righteous judgment.
We as a Church need to remove the beam from our eyes so we can help remove the mote from the eyes of those who cannot see that they are being controlled by the god of this world system, Satan.
Satan is doomed to be cast into the lake of fire. Condemnation was intended for him alone.
Christians must be able to judge sin and, at the same time, warn people that there is still hope for them on this side of eternity to escape the same fate.
Today, we need a Church which speaks to righteousness more than to prosperity. We need a Church with leaders who manifest the fruits of the Spirit, are of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost, and wisdom. We need a Christian Church which is consistent in the call for repentance from sin and for the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We need a Church.
May we all repent and continue to point to Jesus, because He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
